Thanks for visiting my site. I hope you like my images as much as I enjoyed taking them. However you ended up here, I’m really grateful you did and I’m sure you’re keen to know a little bit more about me, so here we go…

I live in a small village on the outskirts of Sheffield with my partner Amanda. Like many I started off as a typical hobbyist photographer taking wildlife, holiday and the usual sunset shots. Using every available opportunity to fine tune my skills and master my craft.

There’s just something about a sunset…

As the passion grew so did my thirst for knowledge. When lockdown came along, I seized the opportunity and started my degree with the British Institute of Photography. There was now no going back, photography had become my life.

I enjoy all types of portrait photography so am reluctant to label or limit myself to just one specific area. Truth is, I find it all as equally rewarding and can’t begin to imagine choosing one over the others. Plus it’s an honour for me to come on the journey with you and your family as it grows, be they babies or pets.

Being trusted to create treasured keepsakes and images that are worthy of your wall space, that can be proudly displayed in your portfolio or be shared on your social platforms, is a true honour. Rather than capturing a moment in time as it naturally happened, the challenge with portrait photography is to create that moment but make it look like it naturally happened. Often staged, with subtle posing using natural or studio lighting, the results can be amazing. I love it! Flash photography is my favourite and especially love a simple black background to create mood and focus the eye on the subject. When perfectly lit, black works for everything, from baby bumps to baby shots, people and pets, the subject definitely becomes centre stage.

Black magic…

However, much as I love the simplicity of a simple portrait, like every photographer natural light is my best friend. When mother nature provides such wonderful backdrops, who wouldn’t take advantage of them!

Mother nature providing the best backdrops…

And we both absolutely love dogs!!

Having lost our beautiful Frenchie (and top model Macey) last year, we aren’t yet ready to take on another dog, but no doubt that time will eventually come as dogs have always been and always will be, a big part of our lives. We used to show and breed Dogue De Bordeaux at Championship level up and down the country including Crufts, so are extremely comfortable handling and engaging with dogs of all sizes. They say that the eyes are the window to the soul, and never is this truer than in the adoring eyes of our beloved dogs, hence why I love a simple head shot. We can offer studio portraits or meet at a location of your choice including your home. We are also fortunate to be surrounded by stunning woodlands and countryside, so do please get in touch and we can discuss all the options, and find your perfect location preference.

Macey in all her beautiful glory, gone but never forgotten.
